Vehicle piranha safety LED lights | ||||
vehicle What is LED An LED is a solid-state, semiconductor device that has been specially designed to emit light. In fact, "LED" is an acronym meaning "Light Emitting Diode." At the heart of the LED is a tiny diode that generates light when a small electric current is applied.
what are the advantage of LED versus incandescent lighting? Unlike traditional, incandescent lights that use bulbs, LED lamps do not use delicate wire filaments that stretch, weaken and eventually fail. •LED lamps last longer because they withstand road vibration and shock much more effectively than bulbs.
A study by the University of Michigan’s Transportation Research Institute found that LED lamps respond on an average 2/10th of a second faster than standard incandescent lamps. Using test results at 65 mph, LEDs improved reaction time and decreased braking distance by 16 feet.
When the vehicle safety lighting industry first introduced lights using LEDs a few years ago, manufacturers of truck bodies and trailers were among the first to recognize the benefits of this newer technology. Numerous OEMs began to spec LED lamps for their new models and fleet owners began retrofitting. Now, as the awareness of LED lighting is increasing and costs are decreasing, aftermarket sales are showing steady increases of these brighter, longer-lasting, premium lights.
Because we do not specialize in producing the intricate electronics that are critical in LEDs, we have developed a strategic partnership with Pacific Insight, a quality supplier to Caterpillar, Ford, GM and Meritor WABCO. Peterson's knowledge and expertise in safety lighting combined with Pacific Insight's superior electronic manufacturing capabilities give our customers the maximum value in LED lighting.
Not all LEDs lamps are created equal.Manufacturing takes great pride in its Piranha® brand LED lighting products. Every Piranha® you buy is a premium product and is manufactured to the highest specifications. We take extra care to ensure that each Piranha® meets or exceeds the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards section 108 (FMVSS 108). FMVSS 108 details all the photometric and physical requirements of all exterior automobile lamps in all 50 states. It details aspects such as color, light intensity, stress tolerances, heat tolerances, etc. for all vehicle exterior lighting equipment. It is the definitive standards that all automotive lamps, OEM or aftermarket, need to adhere to when they are sold in the United States.
•Our Piranha® Brand Lights Provide Fuller, Brighter-Looking Patterns Making Them a Top Choice Among Owner-Operators. When it comes to looks, owner-operators want lights that will make their rigs turn heads. That’s why many prefer Peterson’s Piranha® brand LED lamps. Our optic and lens designs takes advantage of LED technology by diffusing the diode-produced light in unique, eye-catching patterns. The results are lights that not only perform well, but have fuller, brighter-looking patterns.
•Our Designs Increase Lamp Performance and Protect Against Road and Weather Conditions for Longer Life.
